The latest Cyprus (Turkish) birds set
The Wheatear in the logo on the stamps has been identified as Finsch's Wheatear in my listings - not Cyprus Wheatear as it is probably meant to be.

The Pied Wheatear Oenanthe pleschanka above is scanned from Heinzel, Fitter and Parslow 'The Birds of Britain and Europe', 1972. Looks like we have got a match! The Cyprus Wheatear is not mentioned in this field guide - probably not split from Pied at that time. We could then identify the logo Wheatear as Pied or even Cyprus if we allow for a split not yet taken place by these authors.

Finsch's Wheatear

However, the scans from my newer field guide leave some doubt. The two images above have been taken from the Norwegian edition of a 1999 Swedish field guide by Svensson and Grant. The white on the head should reach to the transition from nape to back, not further down. To be Cyprus Wheatear the breast and flanks should not be clear white. I am bewildered!
